It’s Ok.

It’s been a very long time since I share my poetry here, but this one came to me recently and I think it’s a very important reminder for everyone in this world of constant hustle. Vulnerability and perseverance are wonderful, complicated things – hope you enjoy this little piece of mine.

It’s OK.

It’s ok to fall down
to get up
to try again
to get it right
to try new things
to fall down
to get up
to rise above
to lead the trail
to stand out
to fall down
and fall down
and keep falling
then stand up
dust off
chin up
smile on
(or not)
but keep going.

Morning Walks: Blossoms on Concrete

20140423-225721.jpg
People may think concrete is not able to ignite inspiration, but concrete cracks and cracks let life bloom, releasing a wave of what can only be admired with open eyes.
Concrete may not make you a poet, but it can make you think and that’s always a necessity. It can highlight small beauties and nurture little secret corners of good will.
The world needs more things that inspire, simple oddities that ignite a never ending train of thought and cause wanderers to stop and admire simple beauties found in concrete.

City Facades

new-york-city-street-night-lights-wallpaper-2560x1600

Lost in an eternal daze, dazzled by the city lights,

Faces fly by, in this city governed by night

We claim pieces of concrete, unpolished fairy dust,

Seeking shelter on this land full of unbalanced trust

Entitlement corrupts free spirits, crushing dreams one by one

As the sun falls, our fears and walls become undone

A city of expectations, fueled by the purest form of irony

Nothing is required, but presumptions dampen any clarity

Walls guard secrets untold, keeping them safe in the clouds

Hands shaking, smiles rising, money flying, all because we’re too proud

The city of shine and sparkle, an eternal masquerade

Everyone’s invited, but not everyone can make it

You’ll need more than a mask, what are you willing to trade?

Even the shadows dance in here, will you join this masquerade?

What’s up with the mask?

We seek to hide our imperfections,

raising standards with lies of perception.

We can’t face the truth alone,

yet we fly solo and forever roam.

We are selfish creatures seeking what we are not,

creating fantasies, thought after thought.

You give your all, you expose your fears,

yet when you scream, there’s no one near.

You see things in multi-color, fairy dust and all,

then reality hits and you start building walls.

We’re Not Perfect

We’re mere strings hanging from the ceiling,

cracked crystals spreading out the light,

in multi colored pieces that only shine at night.

We’re fragments of dust, as heavy as paper.

We’re flying around, but it’s wind that propels us.

Twisting in the air with no clear vision.

Hearing different beats but smiling in unison.

We’re grains of sand filtering through the cracks,

pieces of yesterday sprinkled with hope,

forgotten in a corner and forever lost.

We’re waves that come crashing ashore,

the waves that move more than just water along.

We crash and we fall, we refresh it all.

We are colored feathers moving to a beat,

surrounded by fragments of what we could be.

We are drops of the universe, surrounded by heat,

running through the stream, aimless down the street.

We’re not perfect, we’re far from it.

Treasures

We all have scars, we all have pasts,

Stories that have been told,

Faces that have been forgotten,

Kisses that have been lost,

And smiles that still haunt us.

We all have footsteps spread around,

Footsteps that have been erased,

Marks that have been preserved.

We all have things we’ve left behind,

Memories that still ache,

Screams we still wish to release,

Tears we have shed in days far gone.

We all have holes that have made us whole,

Scars that have made us human,

Aches that have made us feel,

And tears that have taught us to love.

Because a love so pure can only come like that,

Polished and refined by wounds we still carry.

Because some things we forget,

Some things we carry forever,

Some things we just let go,

And some things become treasures forever.
