Snack Time: 6 Snacks To Check Out

From a new twist on to-go meals to vegan cookies that don’t suck, I was able to try a lot of fun new snacks in the latest Snack Attack Editor Showcase.

Check out some of my favorites below!

terra sweet plantains terra plantains new snack delicious beaches & brie

Terra Sweet Plantains

I personally love that plantains are becoming more mainstream. As a Puerto Rican, I’ve grown up knowing there is no such thing as too much plantains. I’ve always been a fan of Terra chips (and by fan, I mean I’ve been known to devour a whole bag of sweet potato chips in one sitting) so I am excited to see them rolling out these two new flavors. They are addictingly tasty but also only have 3 ingredients, so don’t feel too guilty.

cucina & amore quinoa meal

Cucina & Amore Quinoa Meal

Guys, this one might be life changing. It’s your very own quinoa meal ready to eat, wherever you go and it actually tastes good. They are very generous on their topping, I just personally feel like I could eat a lot more of it. My trick? I bring a supplemental side to make this a meal, whether it’s leftover chicken or a simple soup.

farmer's pantry cornbread crisps

Farmer’s Pantry Cornbread Crisps

At first I was like ew, weird, but these crisps actually taste like cornbread. Nice and crispy, they make for a fun snack in the middle of the day.

sheila's gluten free

Sheila’s Cookie Bites

I’ve loved Sheila’s Brownie Brittle since day one. Now she has a gluten free option! PLUS she came out with these delicious crisp chocolate chip cookie bites. Having one alone is not possible, but I invite you to try.

naturipe snacks healthy

Naturipe Snacks

I had been having the Sargento Snack Packs, which I like, but felt like they were not enough. Naturipe gives it a nice healthy addition, you can get your cheese now accompanied by some sort of nut and fruit. They have different combinations too, so that you don’t get bored.

vegan cookies

Miche’s Kitchen

So now, I am not vegan but I can appreciate vegan meals and totally respect the lifestyle. For someone who loves diary, these were pretty good. I only tasted the coconut flavor, but if that’s any indication of the rest, it’s worth giving these a shot.

Have you tried any of these snacks? Any other snacks you currently can’t get enough of? Let me know, I am alway in the lookout for snacks!!

I received snacks to try for this post, opinions are my own.

#ReinventSnacking with these Creamy Cheese Options

My love for The Laughing Cow started as a romantic French love affair. I was introduced to their classic, creamy swiss by my loving French host family and it quickly became an integral part of my breakfasts while abroad. It even substituted butter as my top choice to put on bread in the morning. When I was running out of money during my time abroad, I would still chip in to indulge in some creamy goodness. It made my cheap sandwich diet so much more exciting.

Breakfast Laughing Cow Beaches and Brie

Homemade breakfast in Paris, Fall 2010. Man, those were cool place mats.

That’s why I was so excited when I got invited to The Laughing Cow’s #ReinventSnacking event in New York City. Fun event plus a brand I already love? I’m in. During the night, I got to experience three different sessions in which I was able to learn from some talented folks.

My first station was Plates, Style & Photograph Snacks with Kristen Hess, from The Artful Gourmet. Basically, my dream job. Best part of setting up for style photography? If you are lucky, you get to eat the food. I did.

I then got to meet the lovely Chef Sarah Simmons from City Grit and Birds and Bubbles. In her station, we used different Laughing Cow products to create tasty and unique treats with a touch of Southern charm.

Lastly, I hit the Stop Motion Snack Video session with Amber Lee and created the video below. Guys, I’m really proud of it. But really, if you like my little video, go check out Amber’s work. Truly amazing.

Fun doesn’t end there, this month, there is another great flavor joining the Laughing Cow family… Creamy Asiago! I got the chance to try it this past month and it’s really good. It pairs well with pecans and pineapple but honestly, I can even eat it plain with one of my favorites, Blue Diamond Almond Nut-Thins. The Laughing Cow Creamy Asiago hits shelves this month.

National Chocolate Cake Day

Processed with VSCOcam with p5 preset

Oh yey! Another fake holiday that has us all droolin’ over food. Hey, I’m not complaining.

I can live without chocolate, but why would I want to? My favorite way to indulge in chocolate cake? Top it with some vanilla ice cream.

This chocolate cake is actually a chocolate mousse cake from Montebello Restaurant in Midtown. I had a great dinner there last night, more on that soon!

So what are you waiting for? Grab some chocolate cake and be happy. It’s that simple.

Happy #NationalChocolateCakeDay 🙂

Look mama, I can be healthy too

Veggies are good for your health and French fries are good for your soul.

You can imagine how excited I was to hear there were new prepared frozen veggie fries available in a freezer near me. You may think the idea is a little gross, but it’s actually quite delicious. As you know, I am no chef, but I can get creative.

Thank you to Veggie Fries for sending a variety of bags for me to sample and experiment with, definitely made my Monday night more interesting!

veggie fries

Here are some combinations that I tried out, nothing too complicated here, but my tummy was happy and that is what matters. Mind you, while I was waiting for the chicken to cook, I basically ate all of the veggie fries… hence the small samples (they are that good).

  • Blue cheese and honey – Veggie fries topped with blue crumbs and honey, this was my personal favorite. My roommate loved this one, and ended up just dipping her veggie fries with honey. Let me tell you something, they are addicting

  • A side to the classics – Chicken and mushrooms, with a side of veggie fries. You can’t go wrong with that and if you do, just add bbq sauce

  • Just dippin’ – Edamame hummus is my current personal favorite, but of course the night that I want to make all of this happen, there is no edamame hummus at my local grocery store. You can also dip them in good old bbq sauce, as I said, you can’t go wrong with that

I’m all for finding that perfect balance between healthy and delicious, although I usually go for the delicious side, let’s be honest.

To learn more about Veggie fries, visit their website. If you’re too lazy, here’s a little bit more about them here:

Veggie Fries are made from all natural USA grown potatoes, carefully selected real farm-grown vegetables, beans, spices and herbs to provide the most authentic and delicious flavors. Each batch follows a unique patent-pending process to give you the perfect fry texture – crispy on the outside, fluffy and tender on the inside. Each variety contains at least 25% of non-potato vegetables and beans for a substantial amount of extra vegetable nutrition in every delicious serving. Every ingredient is all natural, non-GMO and contains no gluten or wheat.
